Iran drama ‘Namira’ named best film at Russia filmfest

Iranian cop film ‘Namira’ has won best feature film award at the 19th edition of DetectiveFEST in Russia.

Mohammad Kermanshahi’s film took home the top prize from the Russian international festival aimed at detective films and television programs with law-enforcement themes.

‘Namira’ is about a group of foreign diplomats entering Iran subsequently kidnapped by a terrorist group. Amin Zendegani plays a starring role in the film.

The Russian festival also recognized ‘Alone Among the Taliban’, a documentary by Mohsen Eslamzadeh, as an honorable mention in a category titled ‘Terrorism, a Threat to Peace’.

The 65-minute documentary details the director’s 15-day stay among the Taliban in Afghanistan.
